Another local school has announced that one of its students has tested positive for Covid-19.

Bohunt School has told parents that a Year 11 pupil has tested positive and that a small number of students have been instructed to self-isolate.

Head of school Neil Pittaway has written to parents. He says he knows that parents may find this concerning, but that the school is continuing to monitor the situation and is working closely with Public Health England.

There’s new hope for local people who are looking for work.

Job Centre Plus is hosting an online jobs fair via Twitter.

The event runs on Wednesday October 7th between 2-3pm. The jobs posted will be based in the East Hampshire and Havant area and anyone seeking employment will be able to search for jobs using the hashtag #EHantsHavantJobs

Bin calendars for East Hampshire residents are now available online.

East Hampshire District Council has declared a climate emergency and as one small step towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, the council will not be sending paper bin calendars to every home this year. The council estimates that this will save around 325kg of carbon each year by reducing paper usage and fuel used for distribution.

Collection days will not change, and the calendars will follow the same pattern as the previous year, with the only changes around bank holidays and the Christmas period. Customers who are used to the pattern their collections take may not need a calendar at all.

Details of changes over the Christmas period will be included in the next edition of Partners magazine.

One of the first Covid restaurant closures in Petersfield is finally over.

Annie Jones Restaurant is reopening today following an extended closure since March.

The restaurant is a Lavant Street mainstay and had hoped to open sooner.

However, its managers say they have spent the time working to ensure all staff and customers are safe at all times. A number of changes are in place including adjusted food service times, in line with new government regulations.

The Festival Hall on Heath Road will be lit in red this evening.

The #LightitInRed campaign has been organised to show solidarity for those who work in and around and provide supplies and services for the entertainment industry.

The Petersfield act of solidarity is being organised and carried out by the Green A Team, a local charity that provides technical theatre support and expertise for local performance and events groups who hire the Festival Hall.

TRAVEL

There are road closures in East Meon near All Saint Church, while SE Water repairs a burst main.
SSE electrical works have moved up the old A3 to the Adhurst junction. There are diversions around the junction with the A272 there.

And there are potential delays expected in Buriton on Kiln Lane whilst Network Rail carries out bridge inspections and on the Rogate Road/A272 junction while SSE continue to upgrade new underground circuits.

Traffic limitations remain in place around the centre of town with cycles and buses only between the Square and Chapel Street and lots of closed parking bays.
