Petersfield’s Shine Radio’s Crowd funder appeal is reaching it’s final stages.
The campaign has been open since the start of the month and currently has a pledge total of £1,315
The campaign aims to raise £1,800 to support the purchase of equipment which will allow the volunteers at Shine radio to broadcast church services from St Peter’s Church to those who are isolated and vulnerable in our local community. A local church based co-operative group has had to cancel its annual Christmas lunch event due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Petersfield Area Churches Together (PACT) Christmas Day Lunch Committee, sadly announced earlier this week that the event will not take place this year, due to the limitations imposed by the Covid-19 regulations.
The lunch, which provides companionship on Christmas Day for people who live alone, is a popular and well attended event, but the committee said that the health and safety of the guests and volunteers is their first priority.
Police received a report of suspicious activity in Upper Heyshott in Petersfield.
Nothing was stolen or damaged on this occasion but an individual was reported to be walking alongside a vehicle at around 04.10 hrs.
Police have issued advice to help to prevent similar incidents. When you leave your vehicle make sure the doors of your vehicle are locked and the windows and sunroof are shut.
- If you have a garage, use it.
- Do not leave anything in your vehicle, including the boot. A jacket or coat left behind may be of very little value to you, but a thief may think it has been used to hide a laptop or handbag and will break into your vehicle to find out.
- If you have a removable music system, take it with you.
- Make sure you do not leave documents which have your name on in your vehicle.
- Do not leave your sat-nav in your vehicle and don’t forget to remove the cradle and wipe the suction marks from your windscreen.
- If you have a house / shed / garage alarm or security lighting use it.
- Look out for your neighbours and any vulnerable people in your community.
- Report suspicious activity to the police on 101 or anonymously via the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111
A Local Pick Your Own farm has opened it’s pumpkin patch for the Halloween season.
Durleighmarsh Spooky Green pumpkin patch is now ready for picking – but note earlier closing time on Sunday of 3pm, with the fields closing half an hour before that.
Although the Cut Flowers season is coming to an end, other produce also available from the farm shop includes Broccoli, Curly & Purple Kale, Cavello de Nero, Beetroot, Chard/Spinach & herbs.
Opening times for October:
Monday to Saturday – 9am to 5pm
Sundays – 10am to 3pm

Local poet and actor Abigail McKern and Collabro singer Michael Auger. They’ll both be performing live.
It’s a rare chance for you to see the P pod being recorded live before a live audience as Petersfield’s weekly podcast of local stories, personalities and voices reaches its fiftieth edition.
The event takes place on Monday evening. Tickets are free but strictly limited so the venue can remain Covid-safe so book now to be sure to be in the audience.
And we plan to announce further special guests later in the week.
Travel news
Hampshire County Council is continuing work at the Station Road/Oaklands Road junction as well as the Causeway/Cranford Road junction and the pedestrian junction is still awaiting installation at the Winchester Road/Princes Road junction.
There’s work on the Avenue in Petersfield too so take care along there.
Andlers Ash Road in Liss continues to be restricted because of the new development going up there.
And as we are very used to now – traffic restrictions and closed parking bays remain a fixture in The Square and along the High Street. There are also diversion routes in place around Langrish, East Tisted, Selbourne and East Meon.
SSEN continues to work on London road on the hill out of Sheet and there’s digging between Rogate Road and Elmers Marsh Lane and on Fernhurst Road in Milland.
There are also works taking place in Exton and East Meon whilst Hampshire County Council carry out repairs.
