Petersfield will be one of the first rural places in England to get full fibre broadband across the whole town.
Telecoms infrastructure company Openreach has earmarked our town to receive the upgrade, with work starting within the next three months.
Connie Dixon of Openreach says we got bumped up the list because many of their engineers live in this area.
She is speaking to Shine Radio’s Stephen Martin.
You can check if your home or business will be covered by the new full fibre network at openreach.com – this is the area being upgraded.

Just wondering – have they actually started work ?
Nothing found on openreach.com for my house address which is well inside the area identified
Hi John – we reported on 24 September that around 40 engineers are currently working on this project. We understand areas around Rushes Road will be among the first to be upgraded and the whole town will take more than a year to complete. Openreach has plenty of roadworks booked-in across the coming weeks including work at the corner of Chapel Street / Station Road next month and on the Winchester Road / Beckham Lane area in January.
Really helpful snippet! New to the area and are glad to be finding local information.
Any chance you know what areas are due to be worked on? Or have a link to show what’s being sorted out next.
Thanks, Be
It looks like the full fibre has been done in my area but some people are excluded from it. The houses around my place can benefit from it. But because I live in the flat I cannot get it. But houses next to my building are fine. Quite hard to understand.
Any idea when this upgrade will arrive on Moggs Mead? I work from home and my 80/20 SOGEA is proving to be a bit wimpy with the amount of uploading I have to do from time to time.
The 2 year anniversary of this speedy rollout is upon us! It has truly been transformative.
Hi we live in a small block of flats in Petersfield in which BT has installed fibre.
During the installation BT engineers have accidentally disconnected the door bell of our 91 year old resident.
We obviously need this fixed asap, she lives on the third floor.
I’ve tried in vain to talk to someone at BT it’s impossible.
We feel we have to go ahead and pay for this to be fixed for her and hopefully recover the cost from BT.
It really is such poor customer service.
Is there any chance of an update about the rollout plans – this story is from 2021 and I was hoping to have quicker broadband by now.
I hope it hasn’t taken since 2021 to download the page! You’re right, the rollout appeared to stall. We’ll ask Openreach for an update and report back.
Have you received an update?
nothing from Openreach other than a note that most unconnected areas should be on the network by end of 2026. They say their online address lookup is the best place to get up-to-date information. It’s at https://www.openreach.com/
