A Petersfield man is under arrest after an armed Police operation on Station Road.

Police say they were called to reports of a man being threatened with a firearm at around 11.30 on Monday morning.

Officers attended and contained the premises as a precaution before going in.

They say a 28-year-old man from Petersfield has been arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and possession of a firearm. He’s being held in custody.

A replica handgun and a high-powered crossbow have been seized from the address.

Station Road and Sandringham Road were closed to traffic during the operation, leading to traffic tailbacks around College Street, Tor Way and Ramshill.
