A Bunch of Amateurs! This will be the very first theatrical production at The Festival Hall, Petersfield, for over 2 years, and we can’t wait to welcome you all back! Grab your tickets online at wintonplayers.org.uk, from the Visitor Centre at The Festival Hall and from One Tree Books.
We are delighted to be bringing this much-anticipated production to the stage this Spring. A Bunch of Amateurs began rehearsals in January 2020, and over 2 years later, it will finally take to the stage! If you haven’t seen the show (or film) before, we thought you might appreciate a little synopsis…
Keen to boost his flagging career, fading Hollywood action hero, Jefferson Steele, arrives in England to play King Lear in Stratford, only to find that this is not the birthplace of the Bard, but a sleepy Suffolk village and the cast are a bunch of amateurs.
Jefferson’s monstrous ego, vanity and insecurity are tested by the enthusiastic amateur thespians – who are not averse to a spot of ego, vanity and insecurity themselves. As acting worlds collide and Jefferson’s career implodes, he discovers some truths about himself and his relationships with other people…along with his inner Lear!
A Bunch of Amateurs will be performed at Petersfield Festival Hall from 28th to 30th April 2022. Evening performances at 7.30 pm with a matinee at 2.30 pm on 30th April.
