It’s all clear at Petersfield Community Hospital after a radiation scare.
Shine Radio listeners say they were held for a time in the building while emergency services attended.
Swan Street was closed for a time while emergency staff assessed the situation.
Paula Hull, Director of Nursing & Allied Health Professionals, from Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust said:
“At around 3pm on Monday 22 August we received information about a member of the public who attended Petersfield Hospital seeking medical support following possible contact with a hazardous substance.
The hospital team followed all precautions to ensure patient and staff safety.
The UK Health Security Agency and emergency services were contacted and a specialist team attended the scene to investigate. This team found no evidence of any risk to the public and declared the situation to be safe.
We resumed normal business within a few hours and would like to apologise to patients and their families for any inconvenience caused by this incident yesterday afternoon.”
They say the hospital team followed all precautions to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
