Iva and Olena are just two of the one hundred refugees now living with Petersfield families.
They speak to Shine Radio’s Stephen Martin about their early experiences in Petersfield, the challenges they face integrating with the local community and how living away from family members still in Ukraine adds distress to their lives.
If you run a local business that could use the advanced skills and qualifications of Petersfield’s new Ukrainian community we would be pleased to connect you with those looking for appropriate work.
Iva speaks a little English and Olena translates for her in this piece.

I so admire these two beautiful ladies. They are always smiling and are so easy to talk to, despite their traumatic experiences in their homeland Ukraine. I’m sure it has been very difficult for the children adjusting to life in our schools and can only imagine how we would feel if we had to be refugees in a strange country. Especially leaving behind husbands, sons and parents. I know they would love to work and so many of them are highly professionally qualified.
