Mayor of Petersfield, councillor Peter Clist sends a message on the death of The Queen on behalf of the town council and the people of Petersfield.

East Hampshire District Council
Councillor Richard Millard, Leader of East Hampshire District Council, today issued this tribute following the death of the Queen Elizabeth II.
“I join the people in East Hampshire, the UK and across the Commonwealth in expressing my deep sadness at the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.
“During a reign that has seen such immense social change in our society she has been a rock of stability and continuity.
“As a monarch she was loved and admired by millions. She was a devoted mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother and our thoughts are with her family at this time.
“As a leader she will stand alone in history, not only as this country’s longest serving monarch, but also as one of its most loved.”
Please can you confirm why the proclamation was not held in public?
