In an official ‘Mayor Making Ceremony’ on Thursday, 11 May, a new Town Mayor was elected to preside over Petersfield for 2023/24.
Departing Town Mayor Peter Clist handed over the badge, chain and duty to local town Cllr JC Crissey who had previously been the deputy mayor for the town.
Our roving reporter Jo Gray caught up with Cllr Crissey, Petersfield’s first American Town Mayor, afterwards in Petersfield Town Hall Chamber in his first interview in the role.

Please forgive my asking you about an event still a long way away : Remembrance Sunday.
As Tower Captain of St. Peter’s Church, the bellringers have asked me to ask you whether we might be allowed to ring for more than the few minutes the programme has given us in the past. Muffling the bells takes time and then to be asked to ring for a very short space of time is a pity. We would be happy to ring before and after the ceremony.

Dear Ms Broadbridge, the main organisers for Remembrance Sunday I believe is the British Legion, but both Rev Hughes and Cllr Lesley Farrow would make good first points of call to make this suggestion since they will be liaising with them nearer the date. I hope that is helpful. Many thanks JC
