It’s Shop Independent Day (Saturday, 24 June) a national campaign where the key message is to vote with your money for the kind of world – and town – you want to live in.
Our reporters Jo Gray, Krsty Meredith & Stephen Martin went into town to meet some of the local business owners who are proudly displaying the Shop Independent Day posters to encourage us to take part in tomorrow’s event. We also hear about some of the challenges facing small independent businesses & what we as local residents or consumers can do to support them.
First up is Laura the owner of Refiill & Replenish on Petersfield High Street who kicked off the local initiative.
We also hear from two family owned businesses in Lavant Street – Mimi from Sew Creative and Maia of Maia’s Flowers, in Chapel Street Velvet & Rose owner Shirley and Jenna owner of Simply Scrumptious, plus David who runs The Sweet Stop in town
