If you’re a customer who can’t get through to your favourite independent Petersfield trader then spare a thought for the staff on the other end of the line.
Since Monday of last week, local traders have been suffering a fault with their phone service. In many cases they can hear the customer but the caller cannot hear them.
Shine Radio spoke to Sarah at the Secret Garden Flower Shop and Richard at World of Inks, two of the affected traders.

Who else is affected?
Shine Radio knows of the following businesses which have suffered faults with their phone service.
- World of Inks
- The Secret Garden
- The Centre for Complementary Medicine
- Gillie G’s
- The Canopy Aveda
- Sew Creative
- Velvet & Rose
- Plumage
- Petersfield Centre for Integrated Veterinary Medicine
- Fez
Some residential customers have also suggested on social media that they are suffering from the fault. It appears to be affecting an area as far out as Steep, Herne Farm and Buriton.

What do to the phone companies say
We invited TalkTalk which provides the service to many but not all of the affected customers to respond.
The issued this statement at 4.39pm on Tuesday:
A TalkTalk spokesperson said: “We have now resolved an issue that impacted some customers’ landline phones in the Petersfield area. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and we will continue to monitor our systems.”
We have also asked Openreach to comment.
My friend in St Peter’s Road had the same fault at her home for several days, but it seems to have cleared this afternoon (Tues).
