For the first time, the volunteers at Petersfield’s Shine Radio have received multiple nominations in The Petersfield Awards.
Doug is in the checked shirt far right of our image. Joff is at the back, just to the left of the green banner.
Two Shine Radio volunteers, Joff Lacey and Doug Newbigging are recognised as shortlisted Personalities of the Year. Meanwhile, the radio service as a whole is shortlisted for its service to the community.

Why are they nominated?
Organisers gave these citations against the three nominees:
Joff Lacey
“Joff Lacey is a well-known member of the local community who participates in numerous local theatre shows and is co-anchor of (and a driving force behind) Petersfield’s Shine Radio. Joff is a brightening presence within the town.”
Doug Newbigging
“Doug quietly goes about making positive pathways around the town with his regular volunteer work. His friendly but reserved demeanour and impressive professional background serve Dougie well and he is a credit to our town!”
Petersfield’s Shine Radio
“The team of volunteers work tirelessly to bring the best of local news and events in addition to daily news, weather and traffic updates. Their interviews with local personalities and inspirational people just seem to get better and better. A fabulous resource!”
Co-founder of the radio service, Stephen Martin said:
The judges are right – our volunteers work hard to serve the people of Petersfield, providing a vital source of trusted local information, companionship for those who need it and a strong connection to the community. Joff and Doug represent the two sides of our work – upfront on the mic and strong support in the background. Thanks to them and many more like them, more than three thousand people benefit from Shine Radio every month. Now it’s delightful to receive recognition from the judges too.
