Justin Welby is the most senior cleric in the Church of England.
He attended Evensong at St Peter’s Church on Sunday as part of a tour of the Portsmouth diocese.
The event was organised to mark the work of Anna Chaplains who help to support older people in local communities. He was interviewed by broadcaster Debbie Thrower, appointed the first Anna Chapain in 2010.
Music was led by organist Mark Dancer and the choir of St Peter’s Church which was full for the service.
