Water and Electrical work in Tilmore
Water and Electricity don’t mix in Tilmore

Just days before Christmas, dozens of homes in the Tilmore area of Petersfield have spent part of the afternoon without electricity or a working fresh water supply.

Engineers for South East Water have spent most of the day repairing a water main along Tilmore Gardens.

They say electrical ducting was disturbed during the work, requiring electricians from Scottish and Southern Electricity Distribution to be called in and isolate the supply.

The water mains supplying the area was also turned off so the electrical workers could complete a cable repair safely. The main supply cable and water mains pass through a duct below verges along the road. Houses in Tilmore Gardens are then connected to the electricity supply by cables flown from wooden poles.

Homes along Tilmore Gardens, Stafford Road and Monks Orchard are affected by the double outage. The Sanctuary care home which looks after people with learning difficulties is one of the larger properties to lose its water supply and electricity connection.

Engineers on site say they expect power and water supplies will be reconnected before tonight.

Update: power and water has now been restored to premises throughout Tilmore.
