Local police community support officer Darryl Hook and his team are trying to find out how cars in Petersfield were damaged on Tuesday night.
Cars parked along Love Lane, Goodyer Close, St Peter’s Road, Luker Drive and in Dolphin Court were targeted between 12.30am and 2am on Tuesday night / Wednesday morning.
They appear to have been “keyed” (scratched with a hard object such as a key). PCSO Hook suggests the overall costs to local residents will be in the tens of thousands of pounds.
The police describe the incident as “mindless damage by an unknown individual” but say evidence provided by local people has helped them pursue their investigation.
Appeal
Right now, the police want to know if you have any CCTV or doorbell footage that can help them identify the perpetrator(s).
They say they’re want our help to identify a man who was in a t shirt and shorts and bearing a shaved head who was spotted walking down Luker Drive at around 1.38am on Wednesday morning.

You may remember a few days ago I sent out a witness appeal in relation to a number of vehicles that have been damaged in the Petersfield area. Local residents from our community woke up on the 14th August and found that there vehicles have been keyed by a selfish act of mindless damage by an unknown individual in the areas of Goodyer Close, St Peters Road, Dolphin Court on the High Street, Love Lane and Luker Drive that we have been made aware of so far. As a result of mindless act of damage, the overall costs to local residents will be in the tens of thousands of pounds.
At the time of the initial reports we had a large time frame of around 8-10 hours at which these incidents occurred. I can now narrow the timeframe down thanks to the help of our local community who have reported these incidents to us. With this being said can I ask anyone within the locality of the above road names provided to check any CCTV or RING doorbell footage they may have between 12:30am – 02:00am on the 14/08/2024.
