The A3 southbound carriageway will be closed between Petersfield & Horndean from 9pm tonight (Friday, 25 October) until 6am on Monday, 28 October. It’s the second full weekend closure of the same stretch of road going south for National Highways to carry out resurfacing work.
Our fellow volunteer Jo Gray, who’s ‘day job’ is at the organisation, interviewed Project Manager Joe Cairns. She asks about the long diversion, why this work couldn’t be done in one weekend, plus is there more to come?

Diversion route
The diversion route will be via the A272 west towards West Meon Hut, A32 south towards Fareham, A27 east through Porchester & Cosham, and A3 London Rd/Portsmouth Rd north via Purbrook, Waterlooville and Cowplain to A3M Junction 2.
