Mary Downes found her usual appointment for Breast screening was moved from Petersfield to Havant.
The service, having not heard from the usual venue (Tesco’s), did not consider other Petersfield bases for the car park service.
Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust have been asked to comment and we will publish their response.
Mary Downes, who says the service is a good one but has concerns, spoke to Mike Waddington.
The NHS responds
We have now received this statement from the NHS.
Liz Rix, Chief Nurse at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, said,
“Our breast screening services work to a set timetable to ensure that eligible individuals are offered an appointment in an appropriate timeframe and a suitable location.
I would like to reassure our communities that the service in Petersfield has had to relocate due to the fact we could not secure the current site.
We wanted the service to continue in a timely way so provided appointments at another venue.
We will continue to work closely with partners to do what we can to locate our mobile unit in Petersfield when we are next due to be there.
I would like to apologise to anyone who has found the change of location disruptive and would encourage all those called for screening to attend when invited.”
