Petersfield’s love of jazz and blues has a new outlet. Shine Radio has joined forces with Petersfield Jazz & Blues Festival to create a new weekly show.
Listeners to Shine Radio can now enjoy sumptuous tunes from some of the world’s jazz and blues greats every Thursday night, curated and hosted by popular broadcasting personality Duncan Barkes.

The success of Petersfield’s Strange Fruit Jazz Club demonstrates just how much the town loves jazz.
It’s a musical passion that fans can further indulge when Petersfield resounds to a day of live jazz and blues music this summer. The Petersfield Jazz & Blues Festival will take over the grounds of Churcher’s College and bring celebrated musicians to two marquee stages in June.
Shine Radio presenter Duncan Barkes said:
It’s an absolute joy to present this kind of music on Shine Radio. Jazz and blues does not get the airtime it deserves, so it’s great that Shine Radio and the Petersfield Jazz and Blues Festival have joined forces so we can bring this glorious music to a wider audience.
The new Shine Radio programme is part of the station’s unique focus on the voices and stories of Petersfield people, the creativity in our town and trusted local information for Petersfield and the surrounding villages.
How to listen
Jazz & Blues with Duncan Barkes is on Shine Radio every Thursday at 8pm.
