A Festival of Trees is a special event run in partnership with PeCAN (Petersfield Climate Action Network), Petersfield Community Garden and East Hampshire District Council to celebrate the benefits of trees and learn more about them.

It runs from 10am until 2pm on Saturday 22nd February at Petersfield Community Garden.

It will be an opportunity to find out more about tree care, with free demonstrations on planting and pruning, as well as guidance on how to use willow and hazel. Expert advice will be on offer – on soil suitability and planting for the future – with climate change in mind. There will be stalls featuring the Forestry Commission, local groups, and craftspeople.

Melanie Oxley, PeCAN trustee for nature recovery says

“We hope many local people will come along to celebrate tree planting and climate action at our Festival of Trees event this Saturday at Petersfield Community Garden. There will be plenty to interest visitors, whether you are collecting fruit trees you have purchased, or not. Family activities, tree care demonstrations and expert advice, willow workshops, craft stalls, Morris Dancing, and homemade refreshments, will make this a wonderful day out!“
