Members of Petersfield fitness classes say no thank you for the music.
People who attend classes at The Taro say their instructors have switched from popular songs to generic drum and bass beats.
They say they’ve been told it’s to save money on licensing fees, and they miss the motivating music of Tina Turner, Bruno Mars, ABBA and other popular artists like those you can hear on Petersfield’s Shine Radio every day.
Marina, Andy and Ingala are among those not feeling it. They vented their complaints to Shine Radio’s Stephen Martin.
We’ve asked the Taro centre for a response and will let you know what they say.

Are you affected?
If you attend fitness classes at the Taro what has been your experience? Perhaps you like the new beats, perhaps not. Let us know in the comments.

A question for Everyone Active.
Have they obtained their part of the licence in order for the instructors to go self employed and obtain the licence they need to play music.
I’ve heard they are not keeping their part of the bargain

How tight of EA, 2 memberships a month per year covers it. So circa 1k. Treating its members poorly and not valuing what they want. But what else can we expect from a large public leisure centre group.
In the case of Petersfield, we really need another gym. Taro is poorly run with grumpy staff, lack of equipment choice and the same equipment and poor layout as years ago. Hopefully EHDC won’t block any gym applications. Competition can only be a good thing.
I agree, the music now is generic, sounding repetitive/dull and is not motivating. So glad it’s been highlighted and really hope Taro will think again.
Thank you Linda. We are paying members and should not just accept this decision. If this does not change the music will be generic for the next 15 years of the contract.
Our fees go up, their profits soar and our classes destroyed.
What price can be put on the power of music!
