The Big Dig started last Saturday in High Meadow (just off Swan Street, near the surgery) and has already uncovered some worked flints, which are very old – mesolithic in fact.

The Dig, organised by Liss Archaeology and the Petersfield Area Historical Society, continues until Saturday 2 August. Visitors welcome on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Ann Brooks told Mike Waddington more about the finds.
