We hear from local mum of two Hannah Chandler, a trained doula, who during a late-night baby feed took the plunge and decided to set up a group for new parents in Liphook.

Inspired by her own experiences of early parenthood, Hannah wanted to create a safe, welcoming space where parents could meet, share their experiences, support one another and, importantly, make new friends and build those all-important local connections.

Jo Gray meets Hannah to find out how did the idea come together — and what happened next.

Following a successful first year, Liphook Bumps & Babies, which meets every other week, is celebrating its first anniversary with an informal (now indoor due to the weather forecast) summer picnic organised by Hannah.

The free event takes place on Thursday 27 August, from 11am to 2pm, at the Millennium Centre in Liphook — with a local storytelling duo also making a special surprise appearance!

Local families are welcome, including existing members and anyone with bumps, babies or siblings up to the age of five who might be interested in joining the group.

There’s also a warm invitation to local people involved in pre- or post-natal support groups and services, as well as local businesses connected to the ‘baby space’, to come along, meet others and get involved.
