Actor Leo McKern, was best known and admired for his most famous character, the crumpled, combative defence barrister Horace Rumpole in John Mortimer’s television series, Rumpole Of The Bailey.

In the 20th Anniversary year of his death his daughter Abigail shares memories of his life in theatre and film and her experience of working alongside him as an actress on the iconic TV series written by QC John Mortimer.  She will read from his autobiography ‘Just Resting’ in the historic courtroom at Petersfield Museum and will take questions and answers afterwards.

Leo McKern was one of the 20th Century’s most loved character actors appearing on film with everyone from the Beatles to Sir Lawrence Olivier. His daughter Abigail is an Olivier Award-winning actress who has appeared in many West End shows as well as playing leading parts at the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre.
