AUSTEN SISTERS is a 50-minute dramatic and entertaining solo literary recital of readings from Jane and Cassandra Austen’s letters, prose and poetry about sisters, compiled and performed by Rowan Suart. Content includes some of Jane’s early Juvenilia works, an extract from her novel ‘Persuasion’, a selection of her poems, part of Cassandra’s letter to their niece after Jane’s death, and Rowan’s own epistolary Epilogue as a personal tribute to the enduring celebrated writer.
This theatrical production of Austen Sisters has been very favourably received at Bath Jane Austen Festival, Chawton House, Alton Regency Week, Winchester Discovery Centre, also arts festivals and literary societies in Chichester, Arundel, Haslemere, and Farnham. Jane was a proud ‘Hampshire born Austen’ growing up and living in such places as Steventon, Southampton, Chawton, Winchester, and Bath, and the 205th anniversary of her death in 1817 at the age of 41 will be on 18 July 2022.
Doors open from 7:00pm.
