Petersfield based production company, HM Collective (an off-shoot of The Half Moon in Sheet) have teamed up with the Friends of Steep church to present an evening of music and spoken word that celebrates Edward Thomas and the countryside that inspired him.

The evening will be presented by internationally acclaimed poet and Chairman of the Royal Literary Society, Daljit Nagra.

Steep resident and student at the Royal College of Music, Alexandra Peel, will play Vaughan-Williams’ The Lark Ascending. The Brighton based Aurora Trio will play Bax Elegiac Trio. Hampshire based Opera singer and teacher at Churcher’s College, John Lofthouse, will sing a variety of settings of Edward Thomas poems – including world premieres of settings by John Hawkins (whose work has previously been performed at the Petersfield Festival), Tim Watts and Francis Pott alongside others by Ivor Gurney, John Pickard and Elaine Hugh-Jones. Hiroko Nagatomo-Banks (who teaches at Bedales and Churcher’s College) will accompany on the piano.

Tickets available at One Tree Books on Lavant Street in Petersfield

All profits from the concert will go to Steep church.
