Full of the Joy of Spring, Daffodils…& Renewable Energy

In contrast to most of our walks so far this year, this one has a bit more meat to it. Be prepared for a steep climb up to the Downs at the start and then another more gradual climb half way around. Our partners on this walk, Energise South Downs, are all about generating renewable energy…..and that goes for you as much as our local area! The route has been planned around the very special wild daffodils found in West Dean Woods. Most of the flowers we see in the countryside today are much larger cultivars. Native, wild daffodils are quite rare and much smaller. Cocking Hill car park is quite popular with walkers, so your illustrious walk leaders will be freeing up some parking space and arriving by bus. If you would like to join us please park in The Grange car park in Midhurst. Our ‘carriage’ departs from the St Mary & St Francis Catholic Church on Bepton Road at 10.02. The walk ends at the Flint Barn Cafe beside the Cocking Hill car park. A rather convenient place to wait for the return bus or to enjoy a coffee/lunch at the foot of the Downs….as the weather is as spring-like as both our footsteps and the flowers!
