Hay Day at Adhurst Allotments Community Orchard
On Sunday 10th September from 10am, join us to make hay while the sun shines (at least we hope it will!) and enjoy a picnic afterwards in the lovely Community Orchard at Adhurst Allotments.
The grass which had been to left grow long to allow wildflowers to flourish, will have been cut the week before, so will need to be cleared and stacked around the boundary of the orchard.
Bring rakes, pitchforks, wheelbarrows, and tarpaulins if you have them, and wear gloves, long sleeves, trousers and sturdy footwear. Don’t forget your picnic and something to sit on.
Members of the community orchard will demonstrate scything during the morning and there will be a couple of activities for children and young people, plus a stand from Petersfield Climate Action Network showcasing the projects we are running.
We encourage you to walk or cycle to Adhurst, but if that’s not possible, there will be parking available at the allotments provided you arrive before 10am and intend to stay for the whole morning. The gate is locked with a code and there will be no access for visitors’ cars between 10am and 12 noon.
