Fancy a sip of specialist gin while enjoying the cool sounds of jazz in the gorgeous setting of Wylds Farm? Then come to our first ever “Jazz & Gin” event on Saturday 15 June 2024.

East of Meon, formed in the nearby village of East Meon, is a talented and versatile jazz band that is sure to get your feet tapping with their cool jazz and Latin beats. They have played in numerous venues across the country but are thrilled to be back on their home turf for this standout show.

Band leader and saxophonist, Kati Whitaker, draws inspiration from the post-bop and cool jazz era, as well as contemporary influences. She has played with the highly successful London bands “Soul Funks” and “Los Domingos” and currently plays with Flavio Lignini’s “Morley Big band” through whom she worked with Bill Laurence of Snarky Puppy and London jazz Orchestras’ Alcyona Mick.

Keyboard player Marcus Hill has been active on the Jazz scene for many years including with “Funk Ambassadors” with Ex. James Brown trumpeter Haji Akbar and legendary Afro-American jazz drummer Clifford Jarvis as well as jazz fusion outfit “Red Out Loud”

Double bass player Andy Coe been gigging for over a few decades – performing with some recognised artists including Dick Pearce and Mark Lockheart and at top venues including Pizza Express Dean St, the 100 Club, The Marquee Club, The Hideaway and twice at Glastonbury Festival.

We are lucky enough to be joined on this occasion by seasoned drummer Paul Canton, well known on the South London circuit for owning and running the “Junction” jazz venue in Brixton until 2022. Conga player Nigel Hosking rounds out the band, adding his own flair and rhythm.

Join us for a thoroughly enjoyable evening of jazz, from the canons of such greats as Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, and Freddie Hubbard, as well as some upbeat latin grooves from the likes of Eddie Palmieri and Santana to get you moving on the dance floor.

And of course, what better way to enjoy the music than with a complimentary glass of Dampneys extraordinary gin?

So come and swing by Wylds Farm for an evening of great music, good vibes, and the Finest English Gin. Get ready to be transported by the incredible talent of East of Meon – and don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes!
