Petersfield & District Philatelic Society stamp head

Petersfield & District Philatelic Society (PDPS) is holding a stamp auction in the Community Centre on Saturday, October 28th. Stamps? Not just “stamps” – Philately includes more than just those tiny bits of paper with crinkly edges. Our auction includes postal history, (such as the Boer War, 1st World War Naval battles, Isle of Wight, Scotland), local ephemera (such as theatre and town events, a Lord Tennyson letter), envelopes & covers, postcards, literature, equipment, and – yes, lots of stamps from around the world (Aden to Wallis and Fortuna – but no Zanzibar or Zululand this time).

Why not drop in? There is no entrance fee, no obligation to buy anything, and plenty of time to potter around and look at the exhibits, as viewing time is from 10am to 1.30pm. If you find something of interest, you can stay for the auction (2-5pm) or put in bids that the auctioneers will handle on your behalf. And there are no buyer’s fees either!
