What are the town’s three theatre groups getting up to?

The 27 March is World Theatre Day, and what better way to celebrate it than to find out what the Petersfield Theatre Groups are getting up to.
Laura Sheppard spoke to members of the Winton Players’ production of Charley’s Aunt, which is being performed at Petersfield Festival Hall 20-22nd April; to the cast and director of The Lion and Unicorn Players’ production of the Canterbury Tales, touring the Petersphere in June 2023; and to the cast, costumier and director of Petersfield Theatre Group’s production of 9 to 5: The Musical, which is being performed at Petersfield Festival Hall in May 2023.

In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Gyles Brandreth shared a poem a day on Twitter, and was encouraged to wear his famous jumpers while doing so. There followed a collaboration with Petersfield Museum, via the poetry of Edward Thomas, which resulted in the Fun and Fabulous collection of jumpers on display at the museum.

Liz Scholey is a dance caller for all sorts of different styles of dancing, as well as a dance teacher, and is calling the dancing at the St Patrick’s celebrations which are fundraising for The Rosemary Foundation.
