Everyone in Petersfield is invited to witness Proclamation of the new King this Sunday evening.

The occasion will be held in Petersfield Square, after criticism of East Hampshire District Council which held a closed ceremony inside its offices and only let people watch it via a pre-recorded video.

Sequence of events for Sunday

The 7.30pm evening service at St Peter’s will start as normal.

At around 7.50 pm, the congregation will move out into The Square, for a short programme:

  • The one minute vigil at 8.00 pm
  • The Proclamation – live, public and open to everyone
  • Both verses of the National Anthem

The Proclamation will be given by Admiral Sir Philip Jones GCB, ADC, DL, the First Sea Lord 2016-19.
