The 160+ members of the Friends of Petersfield Heath run the work parties that manage the habitat there, alongside the Town Council, the Ranger and the Fishing Bailiff.
The Friends hold their AGM on 19 May at the Festival Hall at 7pm.
The Heath can’t have too many friends says secretary Dr Richard Philips: who encourages people to come along and find out more about this valuable resource.

Grateful to Shine Radio for giving Dr Richard Philips the opportunity to talk about the Friends of the Petersfield Heath and their contribution in the management of the heath.
I joined as a work party volunteer in 2014 to help me with my mental health and wellbeing. It has been a great way to meet some amazing people and learn new skills.
I should also mention that the work party offers those younger people completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award with a great opportunity to complete the volunteering part of the award.
thanks for this – yes a great job and Richard’s mentions of DoE and Work Experience are well made for an all-community project. Keep listening!
