Four new mobile phone masts could go up in our area. Telephone company EE wants to erect a new mast on the Causeway in Petersfield and three in Liss.
The plan would improve coverage along the railway line, leading to better wifi on trains and it would provide faster data speeds for people who live close to the masts.
Each proposed mast is more than seventeen metres high and they’ll have to get approval from the South Downs National Park Authority which says they could have a significant impact on the national park.
The proposed locations of the new masts are: on the corner of Mint Road and Forest Road at Wyldes Farm and at the junction of Station Road and Riverside Close, all in Liss, and, in Petersfield, by Fairview Cottages at the Causeway layby.

There has been another outbreak of petty car theft in Sheet. In the early hours of Tuesday, 4 August, a man was seen breaking into cars on one of the housing developments, taking whatever items are left in cars overnight. This is the third time the residents have suffered, so nothing very valuable seems to have been taken.

Businesses employing fewer than 50 people that have not qualified for other coronavirus-related grants can apply to East Hampshire District Council now.
The criteria have again been extended to include properties with a rateable value of up to £100,000 and the rateable value limit has been removed for pubs.

East Hampshire Community Rail Partnership has reopened its Free Shop Petersfield. Visitors to the shop are welcome to help themselves to surplus food donated by local supermarkets. There are also generous donations from local allotments and keen gardeners who have spent lockdown perfecting their growing skills.
Free Shop has all safety restrictions in place and visitors are asked to enter one at a time wearing a face mask. For the moment they will not be serving refreshments. You can find the Free Shop at the old parcel office at Petersfield Railway station.

TRAVEL
SSEN continues its work installing new cabling across Petersfield and it is still working on the Swan Steet/Charles Street cross roads. There are traffic control measures in place there which may cause delays.
The same project is also causing road closures between Rogate Road and Elmers Marsh Lane, between Hill Brow and Fernhurst.
